I started up a fresh character on a fresh PSN account because I wanted to see what it was like in the lower tiers of matchmaking, because I and my horrible tactical skills somehow made it somewhere higher up on my main. To gauge where I'm at, or where I should be at, I've got roughly 350k lifetime WP, nearly 14 Mil lifetime SP, been active since I think December of last year, and a K/D ratio of about 0.45, with somewhere around 1,500 kills and I think 3,600 deaths total? I don't feel like embarrassing myself by checking for exact numbers. I can pretend that those numbers are justified in that I normally play a Logi or Hacker scout, but you can laugh all the same.
The only real difference between where I was previously in matchmaking and where I began anew in this completely fresh character, again, new PSN account and everything, is that none of the matches so far have started with a full team on either side. Every match has been 7-10 people on each team. And instead of being proto-stomped by whole teams, you are instead stomped by three or four individuals in proto. And not Aurum proto that you can just buy yourself into, but actual proto.
What the hell? Why is someone using a Roden's Sniper Rifle in these matches? Why am I seeing proto heavies? I saw someone with Factional Warfare BPOs. There is no way in hell these people should have been treading newbie grounds.
So, after all that, what determines where you end up in matchmaking? Does anyone know for sure? Or can someone link me to where it's already been posted?
And please no 'Drunk Scotty', I'm actually curious. |

If this is really the case, that's a real shame, then. When I'm not running into protos or clearly very experienced players I'm actually having a decent fight and a really good time. Which I guess shows my actual experience level. If you could ever actually get into a match with people on your 'level' I can only imagine how amazing battles would turn out to be. As it is, running around in a newb suit, I just keep getting more and more frustrated the more often I see a Thale's or a Boundless or Ishukone anything pop up on my death screen. |

Not pay to win as you can buy similar versions in the loyalty store. I understand that, but I rarely ever see Loyalty variants, anyway. Why work for your reduced skill gear when you can just get it for cheap, right? And I only said 'that you can buy yourself into' to mean the reduced skill cost, meaning the individuals I went up against had the necessary SP for all their gear, not necessarily that it's pay to win. |
